Avoiding Legal Liability for Prescribing Antipsychotics

This session will address the legal risks associated with antipsychotics. The applicable federal regulations and CMS' recent initiatives will be explored on a practical level. Among the presentation methods will be actual cases where nursing facilities and physicians were held accountable for antipsychotic use considered inappropriate from a clinical and legal perspective. The presenter represented CMS Region III for more than 12 years and has represented SNFs for the past two years. He has handled many cases, representing both CMS and providers, bringing a unique perspective to this area.
