Parkinson Disease and Telemedicine

Parkinson's disease is overrepresented in post-acute and long-term care environments. This discussion will review the hallmarks of Parkinson's disease and unique manifestations of the disease that often appear in nursing home environments. In addition, this presentation will identify opportunities for implementing telemedicine approaches to treatment in order to enhance outcomes and reduce costs. Finally, the session will discuss legal, reimbursement, and technological obstacles that can be encountered when attempting to introduce telemedicine into post-acute/long-term care environments.
