This session will address the challenge of recognizing and managing sepsis in the PALTC setting. With the increasing scrutiny of hospital transfers and rehospitalizations, it is important for the medical director, attending physician, and other health care providers to be familiar with the evolving criteria for sepsis as well as management options. This session will review the evolving criteria for sepsis, including the recent Sepsis-3 criteria and studies on the management of sepsis. In addition, a model for recognizing and managing sepsis in the nursing home will be presented.
