When she was young, Naushira Pandya, MD, CMD, wanted to be an astronaut. Fortunately for her many patients and colleagues, she decided to pursue medicine after watching a news story about leprosy. And she's never looked back, receiving the Society's prestigious James Pattee Award for Excellence in Education during the annual conference in Atlanta for teaching, training, empowering, and motivating others. She not only has dedicated her career to medicine, she inspired many others—including her husband and her son—to become physicians aswell.
