This week, the Society joined the American Medical Association and others in writing to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) quality measure selections and removal policy as finalized in the 2020 Physician Fee Schedule/Quality Payment Programs (QPP) final rule. The deadline to submit your 2019 registration and attestation information for the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program is March 2:

  • Medicare eligible hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs): Attest through the QualityNet Secure Portal
  • Medicaid eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and CAHs: Follow the requirements of your state Medicaid agency
  • Dual-eligible hospitals and CAHs: Attest through the QualityNet Secure Portal (not your state Medicaid agency)

The Nursing Home Workforce Quality Act (H.R. 4468) is bipartisan legislation, introduced by Reps. Dwight Evans (D-PA) and Ron Estes (R-KS), that will help address the critical shortage of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) by ensuring that CNAs have access to the quality training that they need. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is working on new improvements to Medicare.gov to help patients find health care providers in different settings across the care continuum. Later this year, CMS plans to launch a simplified and consistent online experience to make it easier for consumers to find and compare care, while also meeting the needs of industry stakeholders who search data that are important to them. These improvements build on past efforts under the eMedicare initiative, which aims to deliver customized information that beneficiaries want and need.
