Submit your innovation to the Society’s Shark Tank Competition
to promote your idea to the largest national audience in PA/LTC.
The Society’s first-ever Shark Tank Competition will highlight how innovators are tackling PA/LTC issues.
This competition will feature innovation in the PA/LTC setting by showcasing new systems, devices, and technology
with the goal to improve PA/LTC processes and outcomes.

Overview

 

Innovators who are eligible to apply must meet the following criteria:

 

  • Must have an Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and competed at least one pilot (or have current customers).

  • Must have fundraised no more than $3 million in overall funding.

  • Must have an initially defined target consumer/patient population.

  • Must have a working product road map and defined intended impact.

  • Should be seeking clinical advisement, industry expertise and partnership opportunities.

  • Must be able to attend the Society’s Annual Conference between March 23rd – March 25th.

 

 

All applicants have the option to exhibit in the Innovations Tech Pavilion at the 2018 Annual Conference for a discounted exhibit fee of $1,000.00. 

5 innovators will be chosen to present and compete in the Shark Tank Competition at the Annual Conference on March 23, 2018 1:30 – 3:00 PM.

2 winners will be chosen (judging panel choice and audience choice).

 

 

 

 

Categories

 

 

An innovative cutting-edge solution must fall into one of the following three categories to be eligible:

 

Systems/Model of Care Innovation

EXAMPLE

Innovation Legacy Inc. introduces a new model of care that utilizes a risk-stratification system to match patients with the most-suited specialty for their needs, resulting in increased in patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Device Innovation

EXAMPLE

Genius Health Inc. introduces a cloud-based vital signs monitor that gauges vitals promptly thru a finger probe and transmits the results to a provider and a patient portal. The innovation results in better blood pressure management and increased satisfaction among patients and families while saving time for the staff to log the results manually in the electronic record.

Technological Innovation

EXAMPLE

Precision Decision Inc. introduce an IOS application that matches the list of diagnoses from the electronic record with a database of best available education handouts for families and makes them available to the patient and families to review them at their convenience.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Awards

 

Winners Receive:

 

  • Recognition in Society publications, including Caring for Ages and JAMDA.

  • Recognition on social media through the Society’s social media accounts.

  • Consulting from an expert panel of physicians.

  • Free year of membership with the Society and access to all member resources.

  • Opportunity to exhibit for free at the next year’s Innovation Tech Pavilion.

Winners Announced: March 25, 2018 during Sunday’s General Session (8:30 AM – 11:00 AM)

Judging Process

An esteemed panel of leaders in PA/LTC medicine will review each innovation and score based on the following criteria:

 

  • Aligned with the Society’s vision and mission

  • Addresses a significant need in PA/LTC medicine

  • Track record of success in health care solutions

  • Addresses a key issue or challenge faced by Society members or constituent
