Tampa, FL: Today, during its PALTC23 Annual Conference in Tampa, AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine announced that it has appointed Michelle Zinnert, CAE, as its new executive director.
Founded in 1977, AMDA is the only medical specialty society representing the community of medical directors, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other practitioners working in the various post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) settings. The Society’s mission is to promote and enhance the development of competent, compassionate, and committed medical practitioners and leaders to provide goal-centered care across all PALTC settings. It is dedicated to defining and improving quality through timely professional development and evidence-based clinical guidance and advocacy on behalf of members, patients, families, and staff.
In her new role as executive director, Ms. Zinnert will be responsible for leading the Society’s dedicated team of professionals while growing the value of the organization to its members, partners, and other stakeholders. She brings extensive experience in association management, including strategic planning, marketing, and member engagement. Prior to joining AMDA’s team, she served as executive director for the American Urogynecologic Society for 16 years. During her tenure, that society saw significant growth in revenue, membership, and product development.

Headquartered in Columbia, MD, AMDA has two affiliate organizations. The American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine runs a certification program for medical directors in PALTC, credentialing Certified Medical Directors (CMDs). The Foundation for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine engages in fundraising to support awards, community outreach, education, and research with the mission to advance the quality of life for persons in PALTC by inspiring, educating, and recognizing future and current health-care professionals. The search for the new executive director was conducted by AMDA and non-profit search experts Vetted Solutions in response to the planned retirement of outgoing Executive Director Christopher Laxton, CAE.
