THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that AMDA—Dedicated to Long Term Care Medicine (AMDA) initiate discussions with hospital and hospitalist organizations to make them aware of the need for appropriately written prescriptions for controlled substances when a resident is discharged to post-acute and long-term care facility;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that AMDA—Dedicated to Long Term Care Medicine (AMDA) work with legislators, regulatory agencies, and pharmacy organizations to promulgate secure, regulatory-compliant electronic means of prescribing controlled substances to ensure ready patient access to needed medications in the post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) setting.
