Resolutions

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that both Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed) and AMA, as stated in policy since 1993 (PALTmed HOD Resolutions L93 and C94), oppose the Medicare 3-day acute care hospitalization eligibility requirement for SNF admission.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if CMS does not eliminate the 3-day stay requirement, PALTmed urge CMS to allow observation bed status and emergency room observation time to count toward meeting the 3-day inpatient stay requirement.

Note: Effective August 13, 2024, AMDA - The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine is now Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed).
