The deadline for MIPS-eligible clinicians to apply for an Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) hardship exception is January 2, 2024. This application is relevant to the 2023 MIPS performance period, which will affect Medicare payments in 2025. CMS is allowing individuals and groups to apply to request reweighting of MIPS performance categories due to COVID-19. Applying to have all four MIPS categories reweighted will result in a MIPS score that is equivalent to the performance threshold, avoiding a penalty of up to -9%. Get more information.
